I have always been a big fan of Matryoshka Dolls. They are usually pretty simple and the fabric can be bright and patterned.
This doll pattern even comes with the little baby to snuggle with.
The site is in Russian, but can be translated. There aren’t too many instructions for sewing, but you should beable to pick up what to do pretty easy.
I love that the skirts on the matryoshkas are patchwork. Cute!
